United Kingdom
The United Kingdom has the largest population in north Europe. As per the UK Census 2001, the total population was 58,789,194. United Kingdom gives you a clear idea about the demographic pattern of North Europe. There are many ethnic groups that make this vast population, like- White British, White Others, Indian, Pakistani, White Irish, Mixed Race, Black Caribbean, Black African, Bangladeshi, Chinese and others. The major ethnic groups are White British- 83.65% and the White other- 5.27 %. Most of the people speak English.
Sweden
The demographic pattern of north Europe can be understood better by going through the demographic pattern of Sweden. Sweden has a total population of about 9,131,425. Although the population mainly comprises the Swedish people, there are also many immigrant groups coming from Norway, Denmark, Poland, Iraq, Iran, Germany and Turkey.
Norway
In the year 2005, the total population of Norway was about 4,600,000. Majority of the population is composed of the Norwegians and minority groups of Romani, Sami and Kven.
Denmark
In 2007 the total population in Denmark was recorded to be 5,451,826. Most of the people in Denmark are from the Scandinavian origin although you will also find small ethnic groups from Faroese and Greenland. Danish is spoken widely through the country although in some parts German is also spoken.
Finland
Finland has a total population of about 5,282,583. Most of the population is comprised of the finish people, although you will get to see few immigrants from Estonia, Sweden and Russia.
Iceland
In the year 2006, the population in Iceland was about 310,000. Most of the people in Iceland are from the Celtic and Nordic Origin. Icelandic is spoken widely through the country.
