Even without knowing the historical facts of United Kingdom and Ireland, the History of North Europe would remain incomplete.
During the medieval era, various countries like Norway, Denmark had witnessed the rule of many Danish rulers who had been involved in developing the living standards on the country. Kalmar Union was formed in the year 1397, with Denmark, Norway and Sweden where the individual states were allowed nominal independence. Later during the 1530s this part of the northern Europe was under the Protestant Reformation. After forming a union with Norway, Denmark was involved in a war that was fought for more than two centuries. Later on Denmark was involved in many wars, like the Scanian war during 1675 to 1679 followed by the Great Northern War, in between 1700 to 1721. The history of north Europe during this period was full of severe wars that went on for several years.
At that time, the history of north Europe was undergoing huge changes in the United Kingdom in 1707, when the countries like- England, Scotland and Wales had undergone a political unification to form the Kingdom of Great Britain, under the Acts of Union. Over the next decades Britain was going through the age of enlightenment, with numerous philosophical, literary as well as scientific progresses. In the year 1800, the kingdom of Ireland also united with the Kingdom of Great Britain. Later in 1922, Ireland separated from United Kingdom to form the Republic of Ireland. The most significant part in the history of north Europe is… the spreading of parliamentary democracy and the industrial revolution that took place in the 19th century. Northern Europe also witnessed two world wars that took place from 1914 to 1919 and from 1935 to 1945. Many countries were devastated by these two wars that took lives of millions. Later on with the continuous efforts of the governments of the various countries, north Europe again emerged as one of the most developed and beautiful part of the world.
